Why not even build a bridge across the Amazon River ?
At 6,920 km, the Amazon is the second longest river in the world and the largest river in the world. Amazon river provide a huge range of habitats, including swamps, marshes and streams and each hosting different types of wildlife , including 100 species of fish that can generate electricity and 60 species of piranha fish.
Whatever is in the Amazon River is not one thing at all. Bridges.
Not a single bridge has been built across this vast river.
Why without bridges ?
According to the World Wildlife Fund, more than 30 million people live in the Amazon basin, which flows through the trinity of Peru, Colombia and Brazil on the South American continent.
So why are there no bridges across it ?
"There is no strong enough need to build a bridge across the Amazon River."
Says Walter Kaufman, Head of Structural Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland.
Much of the Amazon River flows through sparsely populated and sparsely populated areas.
Walter Kaufmann notes that the Amazon River has a number of technical hurdles that engineers and construction workers must overcome. For example, bridges built over large swamps and mild areas around the river require deeper foundations.
Also, due to the change of course of the river ands due to the change of seasons during the year, the soft sediment deposition in the river banks is a major hindrance due to the rising and falling of its water levels.
